I actually am still at my first job. I have worked different sites. This is the story of the first site I worked. I will have to start the story off with why I got the job in the first place though.
I was 18 and I was told as long as I kept my grades up in school then I would never have to get a job and they would pay me allowance. That way I could keep my mind on my studies. Which I did. But my mom left to go to South Carolina to help take care of my sister. Which she would end up not coming back. She left right before my senior year, so I was left with my step dad.
Well after christmas break I was back in school and driving and just doing what all seniors in high school do. Well my mom always made sure I was paid for gas money and money to eat lunch with, but with her gone I was on my own and depending on my step dad to give me money. Which sometimes never happened so I wouldn't have anything to eat some days. I would call my mom and she would make sure I got enough money, but as you can imagine this put a strain on me and my step dads relationship.
Well after a certain point I got tired of always having to rely on someone else. This is where I took my first big step into adulthood. I called my dad who runs a security company. I always told myself I would never work for him. But he had always tried to get me to come out there and they had this big corporate site where the facilities manager was asking me to join.
So I gave my dad a call and asked for a job. He of course says yes and tells me to come by the office to get me my uniforms and everything else I will need. The next day I show up at the office and do everything I need to do. I had to get my fingerprints taken for my background check and do a urine test for drugs. Which both cleared.
There was some commotion on how much I would get paid though. I ended getting more than the usual person, but not that much more. I didn't really care because I saw positive cash flow coming in where I didn't have before.
Then I thought I was ready I had my uniform ready to go and everything was clear and my license had been sent to the board. So I thought I would get put on a site and just start to work. I thought WRONG. I still didn't work for another two or three weeks. But one day I got a call saying that they have found a site for me to work at. It ended up being only 2 days a week, but I was still in high school so it was fine with me, until I heard what days they were.
Friday and Saturday nights starting from 7 P.M. to 12 A.M. (midnight) And I started getting side work from the corporate site, but that supervisor didn't like me because of my last name so I didn't get much out there and another site, but had the same problem. So they had to put me out by myself until those people were really hurting for people.
I of course took the site because I would be by myself and I really needed the money and I knew I had to start somewhere. In the next blog entry I will tell you about my first site. I actually enjoyed it and learned a lot about how security really is.
That's good you got the job.

I know. I tried but no one would hire me. And the ones who did want to hire me, they didn't have enough money.
